Romans 8:1 “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.”
Two of the most comforting words you will ever hear are these – “no condemnation”. We all know we deserve condemnation, yet there is nothing we can do to deliver ourselves from it without Christ Jesus. He alone paid the price for our sins by His perfect sacrifice upon the cross (Isaiah 53:5-6; 2 Corinthians 5:19, 21; 1 Peter 2:24). So, think about these two words “no condemnation”. Ask yourself:
What does it look like? It means you carry no more guilt. Your sins are forgiven. You are no longer under the power of sin but have been set free to live for God. It means you will not be separated from God but will be with Him forever. It means “no condemnation”.
Where is it found? It is found only “in Christ Jesus”. Christ is the Lord and the Savior. His name “Jesus” means Yahweh, the Savior. Yahweh is the Sovereign and Eternal One who desires a close and intimate relationship with His people. To be “in Christ” is to be united with Him, to be in fellowship with Him. It is a very personal relationship with Him as the Lord and the Savior.
What are the conditions? This relationship in Christ begins when you surrender your life to Him in baptism (Romans 6:3-4; cf. Acts 2:38; 22:16; Galatians 3:26-27; Colossians 2:12). If you are “in Christ”, then you “do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit”. You do not fix your heart on the things of the flesh but the things of God. You have no hostility against God but willingly submit to His law. You do not displease God but please Him (Romans 8:5-8).
“No condemnation” is a real possibility for any and every sinner because of our Lord Jesus Christ. Take Him to be your Savior and never leave Him. Then, you will have “no condemnation”.
