![]() “With what shall I come before the LORD, And bow myself before the High God? Shall I come before Him with burnt offerings, With calves a year old? Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, Ten thousand rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, The fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?” (Micah 6:6-8) Israel was commanded by God to offer sacrifices at the Temple altar on a regular basis. But He was not pleased with their many offerings. Even if they were to make the ultimate sacrifice by offering their own child to Him, He would not accept it. Why?

![]() My beliefs are important. I believe that God exists, that He is the Creator of all things and that He loves every soul. I believe that the Bible is the word of God, that it reveals God’s will for our lives and that the gospel is God’s power to salvation. I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that He died for my sins and was raised from the dead, that He is the only Lord and Savior of the world. I believe that He will judge the world at the last day, sending some to eternal torment and others to eternal life. ![]() “Listen to your heart.” “Follow your feelings.” “Trust your gut.” But, the Bible says, “The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?” (Jeremiah 17:9). That’s right! The heart lies. It lies better than it does anything else. It is not just wicked. It is desperately wicked. It is as evil as it can be. You cannot really know what is going on in your heart. It may lead you, unknowingly, to your own destruction, as Proverbs 14:12 warns, “There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.” |
