Music is a very important part of worship. Many will choose to worship with a congregation or choose not to worship with a congregation because of the music. People are looking for different things regarding music. Some want a full modern sounding band. Others just desire the traditional sound of the organ or piano. Some are looking for a choir, special singing groups or soloists in the worship. Some love the praise teams. Others prefer congregational singing without using any musical instruments. But, shouldn’t we ask first, “What kind of music does God want in the worship of His church?”
Are we more interested in what we want or what God wants in our worship? Do we want to be entertained by others more than we want to worship with others? Is it more about how it makes us feel in the moment than about how it transforms our lives for eternity? Does it appeal more to the flesh than to the spirit? Are we seeking applause from men more than we are seeking to applaud God? Let’s give God the music He wants!

The Psalms reflect God's orders for worship under the law of Moses which has been abolished and taken away (e.g. offering animal sacrifice, burning incense in the temple, various washings). We now live under the new and better covenant of Christ which nowhere authorizes such music in the church.
