![]() What do you think about the idea of an eternally powerful divine being who created this universe? The Bible says, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). Some don’t believe there is a God. They have never seen Him, so how can they know there is a God? Paul helps us with this: “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened” (Romans 1:20-21). What he is saying is that the only reasonable, logical explanation for this world is God. If not God, where did the world come from? Some say it just evolved, but what evolved? You must start with something to get something. Something or someone has always existed. What or who is this that has always existed from which all things have come into existence? Hebrews 3:4 explains, “For every house is built by someone, but He who built all things is God.” This is a good point, isn’t it? If you see a house you know that somebody had to build it. It did not just happen by accident. The same is true of all things. Someone had to make it all.
Who placed the stars in an unending space and set the earth in just the right place with just the right atmosphere and environment for human life? “The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament [the expanse of space] shows His handiwork” (Psalms 19:1). Who made the human body with its complex systems and wrote the DNA code that maps out the entire development of an individual? “I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well” (Psalms 139:14). When you consider the wonders of our universe, the vastness, design, order and complexity of our world, or when you just look in the mirror, you can know that there is an eternally powerful God.
