I grew up in Irving, Texas. My family attended the Beltline Road Church of Christ where I was baptized at the age of 11 years in 1968. Here, I preached my first sermon when I was 16 years old. I married my high school sweetheart, Sherry Harmon, after graduating from MacArthur High in 1975. We are blessed with two married sons and eight grandchildren.
After graduating from the Preston Road Church of Christ School of Preaching in 1978, I have been privileged to preach for several congregations in Texas, including Lawndale Avenue in Houston, Sansom Park, Birdville in Haltom City, and Northwest in Fort Worth. I have participated in mission campaigns in Canada, Mexico, Jamaica, Africa, Singapore, and the Philippines. I have also had the opportunity to serve as an instructor at the Brown Trail School of Preaching in Bedford, Texas since 1990, and received an honorary diploma from the school in 2018 for my many years of service. I have served as the preaching minister for the Northwest Church of Christ in Fort Worth, Texas since 2010 and as the speaker for the television program, “The Truth In Love”, from 2011 to 2019.
During my many years of ministry, I have developed and implemented programs of evangelism and church growth, leadership training, Vacation Bible School, Gospel Meeting & Homecoming, Family & Friends Day, Bible Quiz, as well as various workshops, retreats and seminars for men, women, families, married couples, church elders, deacons, and seniors. I have a great deal of experience in visitation, counseling, personal evangelism, designing, editing, and writing articles for church newsletters, designing, developing, and maintaining our church website and church app, writing a regular blog, local preaching and Bible class teaching, gospel meetings, lectureships, funerals, weddings, and other events including youth meetings, workshops, seminars, and retreats.
I thank God every day for the gift of salvation and the hope of eternal life made possible by the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ, and with the help of the Holy Spirit strive to live everyday helping all others towards heaven to the glory of God.
