Some don’t understand how God could allow the suffering in this world, nor how He could ever send anyone to hell.
Let me say, I don’t understand it all either. No one does. Our finite minds cannot completely comprehend the infinite God!
The Bible says, “Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out! ‘For who has known the mind of the LORD? Or who has become His counselor?’” (Romans 11:33-34).
God has revealed in the Bible a great deal to help us understand suffering. For example, it began with sin (Genesis 3), it is used by God to discipline us (Hebrews 12) and somehow, He is able to work all things together for good (Romans 8:28).
God has also explained some things about hell. For example, hell is for those who sin (Matthew 18:8-9). God has made a way for sinners to be forgiven through Jesus Christ and sent this good news to all the world, so nobody has to go to hell (Mark 16:15-16). Still, we have questions, but some of the answers are just too big for us.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways, says the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts” (Isaiah 55:8-9).
When I was just a boy, I asked my Dad how they could get that picture in the TV. He tried to explain it to me, but I didn’t get it. I still don’t really understand how we do that. There are some things that we will not fully understand now, only later.
