Music is a very important part of worship. Many will choose to worship with a congregation or choose not to worship with a congregation because of the music. People are looking for different things regarding music. Some want a full modern sounding band. Others just desire the traditional sound of the organ or piano. Some are looking for a choir, special singing groups or soloists in the worship. Some love the praise teams. Others prefer congregational singing without using any musical instruments.
But, shouldn’t we ask first, “What kind of music does God want in the worship of His church?”
A teacher asked the children in her Sunday School class, “If I sold my house and my car, had a big garage sale and gave all my money to the church, would I get into heaven?”
“NO!” the children all answered.
“If I cleaned the church every day, mowed the yard, and kept everything neat and tidy, would I get into heaven?”
Again, the answer was “NO!”
“Well,” she continued, “then how can I get to heaven?”
In the back of the room, a five-year-old boy shouted out, “You gotta be dead!”
