We are happy to help support Heiner Montealto, a native of Costa Rica, who now preaches for the San Jose del Sur Church of Christ. He spends most of his time as an instructor at the Costarrican Theological Institute, a preacher training school. Already one new congregation has been started and they continue to work with students in planning and starting other congregations.
MIssion Report January 2020
Hellotoallofyou.MayGodblessyou always. It is nice to start 2020 with great work for the Lord. I have some good news I want to sharewithallofyou.ForthelastyearandhalfIhavebeen workingfull-time withthe CostaRican Theological Institute. We finally had the first graduationceremonythispastDecember, 2019. Six students received their diplomas after completing 64 courses and more than 1,300 hours of classes taught by 2 hard, full-time instructors (Rafael and me) and over 15 instructors from the U.S.A with various emphases and quality. I’m so happy to tell you that 3 of these graduated brothers will be helping us as instructors along with Pablo Horna, abrotherwhograduatedfromthe Memphis School of Preaching thathas moved from Panama to work with the school. The other 3 are out there preaching. Edgar Solis will be the local evangelist for a congregationinportLimónhereinCosta Rica, a 30 year old congregation that doesn’t have elders or a prepared man to preach.StevenisinSanPablodeLeón Cortes,acityof8,000people.That congregation started just a few months ago fromzero.Thelocationisalmostinthe heartofabigmountaininthemiddleof nothing, but the gospel is now present there and it will be preached in all purity and with an old school style from Steven. There are 8 membersalreadyandhewilldoa tremendous job there. The other graduate is Christopher Sirias. He is in La Fortuna workingpart-timewiththiscongregation thatdoesn’thavealocalpreacher. The other half of his time Christopher will travel one hour toQuesada tostart a new congregation.Thatcityisover21,000in population and there is no Church of Christ there. This brother and his family have the heaviestworkandsincehisgraduation. I have gone there already to support his work anddo personalevangelism doorbydoor with him. As you can see in the picture I’m holding his 1 year old baby, Dasha. It will be exhausting, but the plan for this year is to visit and help his hard work on the weekends which means I will be driving 3 and half hours there and 3 and half hours back. This brother and his family are alone; therefore it is necessary that I help to *ll Quesada with the gospel. In the second small picture you can see a gospel meting under the tent that was done in Gol*to Costa Rica, about 6 hours away from where I live and it was a privilege to share the gsopel for 2 days in that place. The next picture is from a campaign in La Fortuna where Christopher (one of our graduates is working) and they were in a gospel meeting. As I mentioned to you before it’s a lot of work to get there and I’m glad I was helpful. They had several Bible studies and so many contacts to follow up on and a baptism as well. The last picture is from our *rst devotional at the Bible Institute for 2020. We have 5 new students coming in and 5 that are starting their second year.
1st Year Students:
2nd Year Students:
Jean Paul Garcia
These are the courses I will be teaching in 2020. Every class is composed of 56 hours and each will have at least 3 assignments for the class. You must consider as part of my work the checking and correction of every paper for every student in every class, which is composed of 15 to 20 pages per student. We put a tremendous emphasis on the grammar and on the writing of good sound preachers for the good of the brotherhood. The courses are:
General Bible Introduction
Hebrew History I (From Josua to Samuel)
Hebrew History II (From Samuel to Esther)
Wisdom Literature II (Psalms and Songs of Salomon)
I have to write the material for every class because there is no sound material in Spanish at the level we are teaching. I also continue to write material in Spanish for the website www.churchofchristarticles.com for people and members of the church to get the benefit. More than 3,000 visit per week and one article is written every week and the Lord has all the glory. I want to extend the invitation now to all my supporters who want to be part of our graduation ceremony for the students this December; you are invited and it will be wonderful to have the presence of any of you with us. I am still having some doctor’s appointments for my high blood pressure. It is controlled now. At the school we have 6 instructors now and that is helping my health so much. Thank you so much for all you do for me. Without your support nothing can be accomplished. We ask for your prayers for us and your constant support and maybe in the future you can be with us here. I love each and every one of you so much and pray for you all every day. May the Lord bless you all abundantly.
